Making Money in Your Business Comes First

Making Money in Your Business Comes First

Let’s make this clear.  You are only in business to make money.

Before you stop reading this, let’s make a few things clear.  Yes, we all want to be in business to create jobs, help our communities and clients, give to charitable organizations and many other important things—I get all that.  But how much more could you do if your business made more money?  You would have that much more to give, that many more employees that you can hire, and that much more to help with.

First things first—I understand that there are a lot of other important things, but you are in business, first and foremost, to make money.  This is not a hobby; it’s a business whose goal is its bottom line profit.  It has to be your business’s top priority and the number one thing to strive towards.  You are not doing well by anyone if you do not have a successful and profitable business.  Let me say that one more time: You are not doing well by anyone, and you can’t help anyone—you are actually hurting people and doing an irresponsible service to them—if you cannot keep your company profitable and making money.

There are so many business operators that are good, honest, ethical people that try so hard to do whatever they can to make sure they are doing the right things.  They give back to their communities, go the extra mile for their customers and help create more jobs, etc., but they are not concentrating enough on the bottom line dollars in their business.

This could turn into a disaster for your company’s life-span and expectancy.

Keep this is mind: As soon as your business is out of money and goes out of business, there is nothing more you can do; your staff is unemployed, you can’t help those charitable organizations anymore, you cannot help yourself, your family or anyone else.

I am not indicating that you are in this situation, but please make sure that you always concentrate on your bottom line revenue first and everything and everyone else will prosper more as a result.  That is the most important thing, because if you are not there, and your business is not profitable, then you cannot do all those important things that you probably started your business for in the first place.
